From Grant to Growth: Finding Purpose at PestWorld

Going Once, Going Twice… Gone to Great Homes!

During PestWorld, Pi Chi Omega successfully hosted a special online auction featuring a rare, complete 10-volume set of the Mallis Handbook, once owned by respected industry leader Stoy Hedges. The auction drew enthusiastic participation from members, resulting in spirited bidding, meaningful acquisitions, and strong support for the fraternity’s mission. With the collection split across two auction phases, winning bidders not only preserved important professional history but also contributed a combined $3,150 to advance Pi Chi Omega’s work. This event highlights the strength of the Pi Chi Omega community, its commitment to knowledge and legacy, and the shared dedication of members who continue to give back.

Presented by former student Kim Kelly-Tunis, ACE, BCE, PCQI this tribute highlighted Dr. Bennett’s remarkable career—from his early academic work to his lasting legacy at Purdue University—and his profound impact on generations of professionals. His instrumental role in elevating the Purdue Pest Management Conference into a nationally respected institution underscores his enduring contributions to education, research, and industry advancement. This recognition celebrates a career that has shaped both the scientific foundation and the professional community of urban entomology.

PestInsight Launches Global Apprenticeship Program and PestInsight Academy to Empower the Next Generation of Public Health and Pest Management Professionals

Pi Chi Omega was gifted Stoy Hedges' complete set of Mallis Handbooks - volumes 1 (signed) through 10. His wife, Kathy, wanted them to get into the hands of folks who would treasure them as much as Stoy did. Bid on books individually to fill in gaps in your personal collection, or get yourself an edition to call your own.
