The auction features individual volumes from all ten editions of the Mallis Handbook of Pest Control, first published in 1945 and revered as the definitive “bible” of structural pest management. This particular collection belonged to the late Stoy Hedges, a beloved entomologist, educator, author, and honorary member of Pi Chi Omega.
Throughout his illustrious career—including 25 years as Senior Technical Entomologist with Terminix International—Stoy served as an industry mentor and knowledge source, even holding the title of editorial director for the 8th, 9th, and 10th editions of the Mallis Handbook. His dedication to scientific pest management helped shape the modern, professionalized field we know today.
Honoring a Legacy of Learning
Following Stoy’s passing in December 2023, his wife, Kathy Hedges, generously donated his cherished library so it could continue inspiring others. Stoy deeply valued these books and she wanted them to find a home with someone who would appreciate them just as much as Stoy did.
Each volume carries Stoy’s spirit of curiosity and education, making this not just a book auction, but a celebration of a life devoted to elevating the pest management profession.
