January 18, 2017

Ladies and Gentlemen of Pi Chi Omega!

I wanted to open this letter with a sincere "Thank You" to all of you for your contributions to the organization. We have had greater participation in the past few years than the previous ten. Like our Pi Chi Omega brothers and sisters before us, we worked together to accomplish our goals. And while we have accomplished a great deal over the past few years, we are just getting started to dig deep into our revitalization.

As we move forward with executing the initiatives from the strategic planning meetings, we will be asking you to participate in various committees and events. We need your intelligence, creativity and passion for the industry. We need your desire to make a better tomorrow for our industry. We need you to help increase the education within our industry.

If you missed it, our updated mission is: To connect and enrich the Urban Pest Management Community. Our vision is: A collaborative environment in which technical knowledge is shared by engaged members, elevating the professionalism of the urban pest management community.

We cannot do this without you. Pi Chi Omega is the chain. You are the link in our chain. Each link is important to the chain. This chain started in 1950, and with your support, Pi Chi Omega will share our mission and vision for generations to come.

If you haven't liked us on Facebook yet, please click this link: https://www.facebook.com/search/top/?q=pi%20chi%20omega. We have to ramp up our social media presence and stay in front of the technology that will help us accomplish our goals. We have been gaining momentum with our Facebook page and we would like to see it become a resource for helping the industry.

We also have some exciting events coming up at Purdue. We will be hosting the first annual Pi Chi Omega Bowling for Scholarships event on 1/7 at 7 pm in the Union Rack & Roll. We have the Hospitality Suite mixer at 9 pm on 1/8. We have the board meeting on 1/8 at 8 am, and of course we have our member meeting and dinner on 1/9 at 5:30 pm in the West Faculty Lounge.

If Jon Osmun is our father, Purdue is our mother. But we must connect with entomology schools, educators and professionals from across the country and the world. We need to start hosting events across the country. We need your help is getting these events set up.

If you haven't purchased the newly released Pi Chi Omega- 50 years of love, please click here for a link to get those in time for the perfect stocking stuffer. Many of our members put in a lot of work to creating the content of this book. We need to make sure we keep those accomplishments alive by supporting this.

In closing, I wanted to share my appreciation for allowing me the opportunity to lead our organization. It is a tremendous honor for me to serve as president of Pi Chi Omega. I am always available to you. Please contact me if you wish to discuss anything; my personal mobile number is 614-638-0149. My email address is db@jteaton.com

Excelsior!
