The Pi Chi Omega Board of Directors and Pi Chi Omega members met in June to have a strategic planning session. The meeting was generously hosted by J. T. Eaton in Twinsburg, Ohio. Rich Ennis, former CEO of Steritech Group Inc., served as the moderator for the strategic planning session.

Goals for the strategic planning session included developing a mission statement, crafting the organization’s vision statement, and outlining the strategic activities that support the principles of Pi Chi Omega. Before the Strategic Planning Group began the task of constructing the new statements, survey responses from members were discussed. Members expressed that strategic activities, such as networking and mentoring opportunities, were most important as they looked at the future of the organization.

The group was focused on preserving the original aims and purposes of Pi Chi Omega, while considering the future of the organization. To that end, Pi Chi Omega continues to be grounded in furthering the science of pest control, supporting the education of its members, and furthering the public’s respect and confidence in our industry, by adding the following mission and vision statements:

The new mission statement of Pi Chi Omega is,

“To connect and enrich the urban pest management community.”

The new vision of Pi Chi Omega is,

“A collaborative environment in which technical knowledge is shared by engaged members, elevating the professionalism of the urban pest management community.”

In addition to developing these new guiding statements, the group identified 4 major areas to focus our strategic activities in: networking, mentoring, scholarships and grants, and recognition and awards.

The Pi Chi Omega Board of Directors recognizes that our industry has changed, as has our organization. As Pi Chi Omega reveals its new strategic activities to its members over the coming months, we hope that each of its members feel their vision for the organization is supported in, not only the mission statement and the vision statement, but the activities and opportunities to come.
